OFM News' agri editor Sabrina Dean speaks to Agri SA Deputy Executive Director Christo van der Rheede about a fresh appeal to corporate sectors and private individuals to help South African farmers with financial contirbutions to survive the impact of the drought. Van der Rheede says the scary reality is that a lot of the country’s top commercial farmers have their backs against the wall and are completely cash strapped. He says the added problem is that the big commercial farmers drive economies in smaller rural times and if they go out of business it will have a severe impact on small towns, which will spill over to the bigger cities.
