Agriculture can show resilience from a jobs perspective

Key questions that consistently arises amid the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on the economy is about its effects on employment. Wandile Sihlobo, Chief Economist at the Agricultural Business Chamber of South Africa, Agbiz, says in agriculture, there could be some resilience in the sector, compared to other sectors of the South African economy. This is among others, because of the sector that was largely operational even during the strict level-5 Covid-19 lock down, except for a few sub sectors such as the wine, tobacco, wool and "floriculture" industries.
