FarmBiz reports that the Agricultural Research Council, Raisins SA and Culdevco recently launched Sundowner, the first-ever commercially registered South African raisin cultivar. The dried fruit industry and the ARC have partnered over decades in a breeding and evaluation research initiative which invested in a raisin cultivar. Sundowner was a result of this project and produces good-quality raisins above 80% choice grade and is ideal for sun drying.
