2018 FIFA World Cup - 2 July 2018

It was another interesting weekend at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and more of the big names have boarded the flight back to their respective countries.
Last week, the champions, Germany, were sent packing after finishing at the bottom of their group.
The round of sixteen started on Saturday afternoon and the first casualty was the disappointing Argentina after being bullied by France.
On Saturday evening, Portugal, who expected to perhaps reach the last four, also received their marching orders following a 2-1 defeat thanks to a stunning performance by Edison Cavani of Uruguay.
Last night the seemingly unthinkable happened when the host, Russia, knocked the 2010 champions, Spain, out with a 4-3 victory on penalties.
In a tightly contested affair, and following a thrilling penalty shootout, Croatia snuck into the quarter-finals at the expense of Denmark.
This evening the focus will be on Rostov-on-Don, where one of the last remaining favourites, Belgium, take on Japan.
Automatically, one would tip the Red Devils to send the Blue Samurais crashing out, however, we have seen numerous times in the World Cup that no team can be underestimated.
