It was a mix fortunes for Africa yesterday at the 2018 FIFA World Cup being played in Russia.
The Lions of Taranga, Senegal, secured the continents first win at the global showpiece, by stunning the much more fancied Poland, 2-1.
In the last game of the day, the hosts Russia secure their advance to the round of 16 after beating the Pharaohs of Egypt, 3-1. This game was deadlock at 0-0 at the half time break, but the Russian killed the game in a 20 minute spell straight after the break.
This evening the 2010 champions, Spain, play in their second match of the tournament when they take on the minnows, Iran.
The Spanish are the overwhelming favourites to win this evening’s tie, however, the Iranians, have one thing that the Spanish, don’t have, and that is a W to their name.
Spain had to settle for a draw during their opening match when they played to 3-all against Portugal.
Iran, in their turn beat Morocco 1-0 on Friday to kick-off their best possible way.
