GDP has contracted by 2.2%

South Africa's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has contracted by 2.2% in the first quarter of 2018.

This is according to Statistician General Risenga Maluleke who made the announcement in Pretoria on Tuesday morning.

The biggest contributors to the negative figure include mining and quarrying, manufacturing and agriculture.
