Free State Police Commissioner Moeketsi Sempe has condemned the brutal murder of a mother and her teenage daughter, who were gunned down in Allanridge in the Free State. He says an expert team of investigators have been assembled to ensure those responsible are brought to book. According to police spokesperson Thandi Mbambo, police discovered the bodies of the two women after they were called to the scene in Blarney Street, yesterday. The body of the mother (55) was found in the bedroom and the body of the daughter (13) was found in the lounge. It's alleged that two assailants attacked the mother along with her three daughters as well as grandmother during the night. A four-year-old suffered a bullet wound to the thigh while the seven-year-old escaped unscathed. The four-year-old was airlifted to a hospital in Bloemfontein for medical care. “We suspect that the incident happened in the middle of the night and the grandchildren who were visiting their granny for school holidays, waited until the morning so they could go seek assistance,” says Sempe. Mbambo explains that the motive for the attack is at this stage unknown. Anyone with information is requested to contact Detective Colonel Berry Senatla on 082 453 0792. - Katleho Morapela / OFM News
