The Global T20 league, which was meant to be played in South Africa as from next month has been postponed and will no longer take place this year.

Cricket South Africa confirmed the news after a board meeting this afternoon.

This is due to television rights not being able to be secured.

The owners of the eight franchises were informed of the decision, and according to Cricket South Africa support the move.

According to the sports’ governing body in South Africa the tournament will now take place in November 2018.

The Global T20 League was scheduled to start on 3 November with the first match in Bloemfontein between the Bloem City Blazers and Cape Town Knight Riders being placed on the 5th.
