A number of roads in North West had to be temporarily closed yesterday due to flooding following heavy rainfall since Sunday. The community safety department's Rebaone Moeng says the N4 between Swartruggens and Rustenburg and the N12 bridge leading into Wolmaransstad remain closed. He says information regarding other affected roads in Ottosdal, Leeudoringstad, Delareyville and Orkney is being gathered.
Moeng says on the R502 between Leeudoringstad and Orkney a driver had to be rescued after he became trapped in his vehicle when he passed through flooding water. On the N14 between Kuruman and Vryburg two people sustained light injuries before being rescued from their vehicle. The South African Weather Service has meanwhile warned of further heavy rain in the northeastern parts of North West today.
