Free State Finance MEC, Elzabe Rockman, says all six municipalities in the province that faced electricity supply interruptions by Eskom because of outstanding debt, are in the clear for now. She says a high level intervention by the provincial government late last night led to the Dihlabeng and Masilonyana municipalities also meeting the minimum requirement to halt the power cuts. Eskom last night said in a media statement that supply interruptions to the Nketoana, Nala, Tokologo and Mantsopa municipalities in the Free State had been suspended, while Dihlabeng and Masilonyana would still face cuts. OFM News however learnt this morning that Dihlabeng and Masilonyana were saved with a multimillion rand bailout by provincial treasury late last night.

Rockman says a rocky road still lies ahead to address the outstanding arrears in the Free State.
In North West the Ventersdorp, Mamusa and Naledi municipalities will face electricity supply interruptions from today. From Wednesday power will be cut to the Ubuntu and Renosterberg municipalities in the Northern Cape, as well as to the Lekwa-Teemane, Maquassi Hills, Madibeng and Kgetleng Rivier municipalities in North West.
