The Free State government is wooing Chinese industrialists to invest in the Free State, especially in formerly established factory areas. Free State MEC for Economic and Small Business Development, Benny Malakoane says the province has 900 000m2 of industrial space in Botshabelo, Thaba Nchu, Phuthaditjhaba and Tshiame at Harrismith. The MEC says they recently met with the 400 member South African Chinese Entrepreneurs Association to share economic development information.

Malakoane says they also however visited other countries to seek foreign investment.

Malakoane says the Free State's fully developed industrial infrastructure, central location and its well-developed road and rail network makes it ideal for foreign investment.
