This Women’s Month, OFM pays tribute to Central South Africa’s change-makers, past and present.
South Africa’s rich history features numerous inspirational and influential women, who were instrumental in bringing about positive social change to the benefit of all South Africans, none more so than Charlotte Maxeke, known as the “Mother of Black Freedom in South Africa”. She was an activist, one of the first Black women graduates in South Africa and one of the first Black South Africans to fight for freedom from exploitative and social conditions of African women.
As part of OFM’s Women’s Month series, Neo Letsoha delved deeper into the history of this remarkable woman who managed to break through barriers.
