The Treatment Action Campaign (TAC) has written an open letter to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) with regards to the delay in the prosecution of Free State Health MEC, Benny Malakoane, and his co-accused.

This comes after the corruption case against Malakoane was postponed for a sixth time this week.

The letter, addressed to Shaun Abrahams, Diniso Ketani and Xolisile Khanyile - the advocates responsible for the case - urges the NPA to conclude its investigation so the trial can get underway.

TAC deputy chairperson, Patrick Mdletshe, expressed concern over the multiple cases Malakoane is currently facing.

The Deputy Director of the NPA in the Free State, Elsa Smith, responded to the memorandum of demands the TAC handed over last week.

She said the NPA will consult with some of the witnesses in the case and decide on whether to prosecute those who are charged or not.
