More than 20 000 people have already benefitted from the AgriSA Drought Disaster Fund that was started by agricultural business Senwes and farmer’s body Agri SA.

Speaking at Nampo today, Agri SA president Johannes Moller said there is very little help for South African farmers that suffer due to the drought conditions.

Engen Petroleum handed over a donation of 1 million rand to Senwes for the Drought Disaster Fund today. Moller said about 10-thousand commercial farmers have been helped so far while another 10 000 small farmers and communities have also benefitted from the fund.

He said the money is put to good use in South Africa’s rural areas.
