Opposition parties dismiss Zuma's Nkandla apology

The Democratic Alliance (DA)'s chief whip in Parliament, John Steenhuisen says President Jacob Zuma and the ANC have misjudged the mood of the nation. Steenhuisen feels South Africans are angry at the way in the which Zuma and the ruling party have handled the Nkandla matter following the Constitutional Court's judgment earlier this week. The court found that Zuma violated his constitutional duties by failing to implement the recommendations made by the Public Protector on non-security upgrades to his private homestead. Steenhuisen says Zuma's apology last night was an inadequate response to the judgment, addin that the DA will continue with its efforts to have the president impeached.

The EFF in KZN's Marshall Dlamini in turn said the party was not surprised by Zuma's response, saying that the ANC has on many occasions shown that they have no respect for the country or anyone else other than themselves.
