The Democratic Alliance (DA) says new revelations by a Department of Public Works official regarding the Nkandla scandal confirm the party's insistence that President Jacob Zuma personally benefited from improvements to his private residence.
Axed Department of Public Works official, Rachard Samuel told the Sunday Times that he was dismissed for insisting on detailing the costs that should be borne by Zuma.
According to the exposé, Samuel has invoices and emails to back his claims that R1.5-million was spent on air conditioning, and hundreds of thousands on fittings and fixtures for the private homes on Zuma's homestead.
DA leader Mmusi Maimane says it confirms what the party has always maintained. He also believes there's a case to be answered about Zuma's answers to Parliament about the Nkandla saga.
