Rainfall predictions are favourable for the rest of the week in parts of the Free State, North West and Northern Cape. A forecaster at the Bloemfontein Weather Service, Sihle Kunene, says there is a 60% chance for rain in the eastern Free State and eastern parts of North West today and tomorrow. He says light showers are predicted for the rest of the Free State and western part of North West, which will clear up by Friday. By Saturday the situation changes with a 30% chance of rain predicted for the whole Free State and North West while a more favourable 60% is predicted in these provinces on Sunday. Kunene says the eastern parts of the Northern Cape, including Kimberley, Kathu and Postmansburg can also expect light showers on Sunday afternoon.

Kunene says on Tuesday moist air can lead to a more significant amount of rainfall across central South Africa.
