A “Safe Schools” campaign will be launched in Kimberley, in the Northern Cape today by Transport Minister Dipuo Peters.
This morning, Peters will hand over a Torch of Peace to Basic Education Minister, Angie Motshekga, at the event that will take place at Tetlanyo High School in Galeshewe. Sam Monareng from the department of transport says the hand-over signifies the importance of partnerships and government departments working together on various initiatives and campaigns.
Peters and Motshekga will be joined by Northern Cape MEC for Transport, Safety and Liaison, Martha Bartlett, transport stakeholders and more than five hundred learners from different schools in the province.
Monareng says the Torch of Peace was handed over to the department for transport by the department of social development for the festive season road safety campaign in December last year.
