Residents of QwaQwa in the eastern Free State will receive water today as part of the "Operation Hydrate" initiative. The Free State has been hard hit by the drought, with some towns being without water completely. A group of volunteers for Operation Hydrate will donate water in QwaQwa today. CrimeLine boss Yusuf Ambramjee, who is spearheading the operation, says they intend to distribute a million litres of water to affected areas by the end of the week. Abramjee says residents of Phuthaditjhaba in QwaQwa called the operation yesterday, saying there was very little running tap water. Abramjee says they will distribute more water to residents in Senekal on Thursday.
