#SADTUvsDA| Union calls on the President to sanction basic education minister

The Minister of Basic Education Siviwe Gwarube has suspended the R1.6 billion foundation-phase textbook catalogue citing  governance and financial risks that were found following an independent investigation. This has led to a clash between the South African Democratic Teachers Union and the Democratic Alliance with SADTU saying that the Minister’s actions reveal a clear pattern of political interference. DA is also accusing the union of allowing political and organisational interests to block accountability and policy reform in basic education. Nghamula Chauke spoke to SADTU Media officer's Nomusa Cembi and DA Deputy Spokesperson for Education Ciska Jordaan.
