In conversation with, Dr. Koena Kgomo is a specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital. He completed his undergraduate medical studies at the University of Cape Town and joined the University of the Witwatersrand circuit in 2008 as a junior medical officer. Dr. Kgomo completed his registrar training from 2009 to 2012 and pursued a fellowship in Gynaecological Oncology from 2022 to 2024. He has successfully passed the written examination for his fellowship certificate and is scheduled to take the clinical exam in October 2025. Passionate about women’s health, Dr. Kgomo specializes in gynaecological cancers and contributes to the expanding gynaecological oncology unit at both Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital and Wits University.
