MI Cape Town drew first blood in the third season of the SA20 last night with a 97-run win against the defending champions, Sunrisers Eastern Cape, in Gqeberha.
Cape Town had a bat first and posted 174/7 in their allotted 20-overs.
Dewald Brevis smashed 57, while Delano Potgieter scored 25 not out.
The former North West Dragons allrounder, Potgieter, then took a career-best 5/10 in 3 overs as the Sunrisers were bowled out for 77.
Potgieter said he just tried to do his job with the ball.
