It is a revolutionary piece of equipment. That is the Da Vinci XI surgical robot that is being introduced at the Busamed Gateway Private Hospital in Umhlanga tomorrow morning. And although it will not be able to replace any surgeons, it can enhance the theatre experience. Imraan Soomra, the CEO of EASE, the company responsible for bringing the robot to South-Africa, tells Kayla Barker of OFM, more about this.
