The Irish have downplayed the world number one tag ahead of Saturday’s Test against the Springboks in Dublin.
The Irish occupy the number one status on the official World Rugby rankings following their outstanding season which earned them an historic series win against the All Blacks in New Zealand.
While South Africa are the reigning World Champions, they are third in the rankings behind the Irish and the French.
The Irish captain, Johnny Sexton, said to them the number one status means nothing if you are not the World Champions.
