Farmers who are unable to pay the required national minimum wage can apply for an exemption at the Department of Labour and Employment. This is according to Boikie Mampuru, the Chief Inspector at the Department of Labour and Employment in North West, after a visit to two farms in North West revealed that some farmworkers were not paid the required national minimum wage.
