Fintech lenders in South Africa are continuing to lead the charge in filling in the funding gap for businesses in the country. The OFM Business Hour sat down with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and co-founder of Fundrr, Idan Jaan, on the rise of alternative funding models for small, medium and micro-enterprises (SMMEs) in the country. Jaan says the funding gap for startups in South Africa is born from the absence of a venture capitalist ecosystem. This ecosystem is very present and robust in more developed countries, which is why the startup culture is different in South Africa.
