Agri Eastern Cape successfully obtained a court order against the Great Kei Municipality to enforce bylaws for the keeping of animals in residential areas. Farmers around towns suffered severe losses because of uncontrolled dog packs used for illegal hunting. Live stock ownership also ensures the responsibility to keep animals in such a way that they do not pose a threat, according to the press statement of Agri Eastern Cape.
