Rishi Pooran who was frustrated with the service delivery in his area resorted to planting banana trees in the potholes he found in his area in the KwaZulu-Natal north coast town of KwaDukuza to grab the attention of the local municipality. Calling it the 'banana tree challenge', the team wanted to know more about this new form of protest and get an update on the local municipality's response.
