A 6.2 magnitude earthquake was recorded offshore of Cape Town this evening, with tremors felt in a number of suburbs. The US Geological Survey reported that the quake took place 1600 kilometers south east of the country at a depth of 10 kilometers. On social media, some Capetonians reported that they had indeed felt some tremors. The tremor did not appear to cause any impact on infrastructure of public safety.
