Court orders Isipingo Beach Mosque (KZN) to silence (call to prayer) Athan

A judge has ordered the Madrasah Taleemuddeen Islamic Institute in Isipingo Beach in KwaZulu-Natal to silence its athan after a non-Muslim individual, who lives two doors away, complained that "it gives the suburb a distinctly Muslim atmosphere" and interferes with his private space. Many people believe the man is an Islamophobe and that his actions show bigotry, intolerance and is polarising society. Now this is not the first time that complaints have been lodged against an Islamic institution on the grounds of noise disturbance.
