
Delft CPF reacts to recent protests

Now at some point this week or last Capetonians would have heard about violent protest action taking place and leading to several road closures. Tyres were burnt, cars stoned, a bus and two other vehicles were petrol bombed and a covid-19 treatment facility was damaged- amid the chaos. It follows attempted land invasions in the Delft and Mfuleni areas, where City of Cape Town officials stopped the erection of hundreds of shacks, respectively. It comes amid a head to head court battle between the South African Human Rights Commission and the city over evictions during lockdown
