Dr Theo Mothoa-Frendo heads a company called African Dermal Science, which makes a skincare line for African skin. Passionate about increasing access to healthcare in Africa, Theo has experience in the pharmaceutical industry with both local, regional and multinational exposure. She graduated as a Medical Doctor, followed by a number of years practicing medicine in different South African hospitals, in both the urban and township areas. Having always had an interest in business, she then joined Roche Pharmaceuticals as a Medical Manager and has since served various roles in medical affairs, market access and health economics - in South Africa and the rest of Sub-Sahara Africa with special focus on Nigeria, Kenya, Botswana, Namibia and Mauritius. Theo has leadership experience in the development of local and regional strategic projects in Clinical Research, Medical Marketing, Public Sector Partnerships, Market Access Strategies and Healthcare Compliance. She also currently sits on the Board of the South African Marketing Code Authority. It was while Theo is the Head of Medical Affairs for Roche South Africa that she decided she wanted to start her own company and went on to launch Uso, her skincare range for African skin.
