INTERNATIONAL KASHMIR BLACK DAY

It's been 79 years since Indian troops entered Jammu and Kashmir on 27 October 1947, marking a defining moment in a dispute that remains unresolved nearly eight decades later. For Kashmiris observing Black Day, today is more than an occasion of remembrance. It's a reminder of generations living with political uncertainty, human rights concerns and an ongoing struggle for self-determination. Despite United Nations resolutions and repeated international appeals, a lasting resolution remains elusive. So why has the international community failed to resolve the Kashmir question, and why does the principle of self-determination seem to carry more weight in some conflicts than others? To unpack this, we're joined by Dr Hassan Rabani, Deputy High Commissioner of Pakistan to South Africa. Dr Rabani, welcome to Radio Al Ansaar.
