Fresh and Thato spoke to Senior Journalist at The Citizen, Faizel Patel on what to make of The ANC heading to the High Court in Johannesburg on Thursday to stop its election funding from being taken to settle a debt. Service provider Eltel says the party owes it R40 million for digital marketing, communications and technical support during the 2019 elections. Eltel wants the court to order the IEC to withhold the ANC’s allocation and pay the money to Eltel instead and the ANC argues the funds would otherwise be spent within days on the 2026 local government election campaign.
