This week on World of Work, we speak to Londiwe Hlatshwayo, Founder and Director of Landtech Geomatics and the GreenCycle Initiative. With over a decade of experience in geomatics and environmental sciences, Hlatshwayo works at the intersection of environmental sustainability, data, and community development.
Through the GreenCycle Initiative, she is piloting a programme that trains communities to manufacture eco-bricks using waste materials. These eco-bricks can be used in construction for pavements, homes, and community infrastructure. The initiative also introduces a cooperative-style economic model where participants can generate income through eco-brick production while addressing broader issues like unemployment, waste management, and access to resources such as solar power and water.
