The Gauteng Provincial Legislature’s Health and Wellness Portfolio Committee has conducted oversight visits to two critical public health service points: Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital and the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) coordinating base in Midrand.

The visits are part of the Committee’s programme to monitor service delivery in key priority areas, particularly cancer care (oncology) and emergency response systems, with the stated goal of improving health outcomes across Gauteng.

At Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital, the Committee’s oversight focused on oncology services. Members assessed operational conditions and engaged directly with senior management, emphasising that oversight should be grounded in real working conditions rather than relying only on written departmental reports.
