: The Finished Work of Christ vs. the Sacramental System of Trent

In this week’s Memorable Monday on Let’s Talk, Rocky Stevenson Pastor of Benoni Bible Church continues our journey through the Council of Trent (1545–1563), examining one of the most pivotal theological battlegrounds of the Reformation: the sacraments, the Mass, and the Eucharist. Trent reaffirmed seven sacraments, defined the Mass as a true propitiatory sacrifice for the living and the dead, and declared the bread and wine to become Christ Himself through transubstantiation—requiring adoration of the consecrated host. But what does Scripture say? With the Bible as our lens, Rocky walks through Hebrews 9–10, Luke 22, 1 Corinthians 11, and John 19 to show that Christ’s sacrifice is once for all, fully sufficient, and complete. The Lord’s Supper is a memorial proclamation of that finished work—not an ongoing sacrifice. This episode highlights why these differences still matter today: the sufficiency of Jesus’ finished work, the clarity of the gospel, and the need for worship grounded in Scripture alone. Join us as we reflect on history, stand firmly on the Word of God, and rejoice in the unchanging truth that salvation flows from Christ alone. #MemorableMonday #LetsTalkRadio #CouncilOfTrent #ChurchHistory #ReformationTruth #FinishedWorkOfChrist #BiblicalGospel #OnceForAll #RomanCatholicHistory #SufficiencyOfScripture #RadioPulpit #RockyStevenson
