EKASINOMICS: Prudence Mabaso, founder of The Kitchen Wrap

This week on Ekasinomics, we spotlight the remarkable journey of Prudence Mabaso, founder of The Kitchen Wrap Company, a fast-rising entrepreneur from Tsakane who turned unemployment into innovation, and a desperate moment into a million-rand opportunity.

After losing her engineering job in 2021, Mabaso refused to be defined by circumstance. She discovered the niche world of architectural vinyl wrapping, trained herself from scratch, and built a business in Benoni that has now completed more than 500 kitchen transformations, employs seven full-time staff, and is training the next generation of women installers.

Fresh off winning the 2025 Nedbank Pitch & Polish competition against more than 2,000 entrepreneurs, she’s gearing up to scale launching her own range of interior films and a tech platform to streamline operations.
