More broadly, common marital challenges in South Africa include financial stress, infidelity, communication breakdown, cultural and religious differences, domestic violence, substance abuse, and lack of intimacy. Healing and strong marriages can emerge when couples address root causes together with forgiveness and mutual commitment.​
