Despite early interracial beginnings, apartheid-era divisions led to segregated sections along racial lines until 1996, when the church reunited as a multi-racial body. Today, with over 1.2 million members and more than 2,000 assemblies in South Africa, AFM emphasizes Holy Spirit baptism, divine healing, and evangelism, making it the largest Pentecostal church in the country with a global presence in 28 countries.
