Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero is not backing down as legal tensions mount with the Socio-Economic Rights Institute of South Africa (SERI), the mayor has doubled down on the city's hardline stance against inner-city informal trading that falls outside the law. Morero led a major by-law enforcement blitz last week a bold move aimed at reclaiming the city from what he calls “urban decay and lawlessness.” But it's not without controversy, as some informal traders say they've been pushed out of their livelihoods.
