Born on 23 March 1983 in Soweto, Morgan Leonard Gould grew up in the heart of South African football culture.He rose through youth ranks at Noordgesig Sundowns, Wits juniors, and Bedfordview before launching his senior career in 2001 with Jomo Cosmos.
Over the years, Gould became a stalwart in South African football playing as a centre-back for top clubs like Supersport United, Kaizer Chiefs, and later Stellenbosch and Sekhukhune United. On the international stage, he earned over 30 caps for Bafana Bafana between 2008 and 2017.
Throughout his club career, Gould collected multiple honours: league titles with Supersport United, cups (MTN8, Nedbank Cup) and other domestic trophies. His reputation was built not just on what he won, but on his consistency, leadership, and resilience playing well into his late 30s.
Beyond the pitch, Gould is also vocal on issues like balancing education and sport. For example, he’s praised Varsity Football as a platform that allows athletes to grow academically and athletically.
