As South Africa approaches World Rabies Day on 28 September 2025, the Department of Agriculture is urging the nation to support the theme “Act Now: You, Me, Community” in the fight against rabies, a deadly but preventable disease affecting humans and animals. Minister John Steenhuisen, alongside the National Rabies Advisory Group, is calling for individuals, organisations, and policymakers to commit to vaccination, awareness, and collaborative efforts aimed at eliminating rabies deaths in the country.
