Humanitarian Flotilla Attacked En Route to Gaza

Over 500 activists aboard the Global Sumud Flotilla, including South Africans, came under attack while sailing to Gaza to challenge Israel’s ongoing siege. Explosions rocked several boats, communications were jammed, and drones buzzed ominously overhead just days after Israel warned the flotilla would be intercepted. The mission, backed by peace activists from 44 countries, was meant to deliver aid and break the blockade but now faces rising danger reminiscent of the deadly Mavi Marmara incident in 2010. Phemelo speaks with activist and author Zukiswa Wanner, who’s on board as part of the South African delegation.
