Wednesday 10 September, the world observed World Suicide Prevention Day, and the South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG) marked the occasion by launching a comprehensive online toolkit filled with valuable information and resources to support mental health and suicide prevention.
As part of the commemoration, SADAG hosted an interactive webinar, “Let’s Talk About It – Facing Suicidal Thoughts Together”, which featured Clinical Psychologist Zamo Mbele, Leandre Oliver, who shared personal lived experience, and Christia Uys, founder of You Matter Walk, discussing her initiative to raise awareness about suicide prevention.
Building on this, the public is invited to join a special Ask the Expert session on Facebook tomorrow, Friday 12 September at 1 PM. During this live session, Clinical Psychologist Dr Mosa Malema will discuss “How to Support and Connect After a Suicide Attempt”, offering practical guidance for individuals, families, and communities.
SADAG encourages anyone interested in learning more about suicide prevention, accessing expert advice, or using the online resources to tune in and engage with the session.
For media inquiries, interviews, or further information, SADAG can be contacted directly.
