Phuti Maraba is a young entrepreneur. He taught himself to code and created Munchiez, a food ordering platform built by students, for students.
After facing the shock of failing his first year at university, Phuti turned a major setback into a bold new vision.
The app puts convenience at students’ fingertips, allowing them to skip long queues and order food directly from their student center online. What started as an idea in March 2024 has grown into a live app at the University of Johannesburg APK campus, with plans to expand further. Phuti’s journey is a testament to turning failure into opportunity, innovation into impact, and vision into reality.
Imagine skipping the long queues at your campus cafeteria and ordering your food with just a few taps on your phone. That’s the reality now for students at UJ APK campus, thanks to Munchiez, a food ordering platform for students created by Phuti Maraba. Today, he joins us to share insight on this app.
