South Africa’s unemployment crisis continues to worsen, with Stats SA reporting 33.2% unemployment in Q2 of 2025. Despite the economy adding 19,000 jobs, more than 140,000 were lost, leaving 8.4 million people unemployed. Young people remain the hardest hit, with township communities bearing the brunt of joblessness and limited access to meaningful economic opportunities.
