Minister confirms person shot dead at Walter Sisulu University was a student there

Higher Education Minister Nobuhle Nkabane has confirmed the young man who was shot and killed at the Walter Sisulu University (WSU)'s Mthatha campus was indeed a student at the institution. The university management issued a statement claiming Sisonke Mbolekwa was not registered at the institution, sparking backlash from students who took to social media to deny their claims. Mbolekwa was allegedly shot by a residence manager at the institution while protesting with other students, calling for better accommodation facilities.
