IN CONVERSATION WITH TEBOGO MASHILOMPANE, Leader of Forum for South Africa – FOSA

The Minister of COGTA and GNU government must be taken to court for aiding illegal spaza shop owners to operate and continue to feed our children poison
As usual, the politicians continue to be reactive. It is alleged that a child of 8 years in Mapetla, Soweto, consumed snacks from the spaza shop which, saw the child being admitted at the hospital.
Now that there is a new case of a child eating snacks from the illegal spaza shop, the Minister Hlabisa is reacting to the issue instead of combating it.
What shocks us is that, there are clear rules for spaza shop operators. Guidelines are there, and spaza owners continue to operate without license and is business as usual.
It is time we take the Minister and Government of GNU to court. And the courts must pronounce that Minister and everyone involved must pay their own legal bills because they act in ignorance. The law dictates that the Minister of COGTA ought to act in order to combat the ongoing operation of illegal spaza shops.
It cannot be right that some Minister's sleep on the job and when litigated against they use the state resources and tax payers money to defend their act of ommission. It must come to an end...Politicians must stop abusing our taxes.
