Kruger to Canyon -TASC cookstove project

The K2C Biosphere has partnered with the TASC Foundation, a global carbon finance and project development company, to implement a Fuel-Efficient Improved Cookstove Project.
Research conducted by TASC & K2C showed that these wood burning stoves boil 5 litres of water in 15 min, using as little as 250g wood. They are also smokeless when running and as the outer cage remains cool, they are safe to operate, which is a huge benefit for household use.
This project supports local communities by providing access to and training with the Cookstoves, which enable households to utilise cooking solutions that use less fuel, reduce harmful smoke of traditional open-fire wood cooking, and lessen the impact if indigenous wood harvesting.
Together with TASC, 342000 cookstoves have been distributed within the K2C Biosphere Region over the last 2years, and our Monitoring Teams conduct regular follow-ups to ensure cookstove efficiency.
